The diner fell into absolute silence.
Every pair of eyes turned toward the little girl clinging tightly to Wade’s leather vest.
Wade looked down at her, confused.
“What did you just say?”
The child slowly raised one trembling finger and pointed at the embroidered wolf patch stitched across his vest.
“My mommy showed me that picture.”
Her voice shook with every word.
“She said if I was ever scared…”
“…I had to find the wolves.”
A ripple moved through the room.
Every biker inside wore the same patch.
The Road Wolves.
What had seemed like an ordinary misunderstanding suddenly became something far more serious.
Wade slowly crouched until he was eye level with her.
His voice lost every trace of suspicion.
“What’s your name, sweetheart?”
“Emily.”
“And your mother’s name?”
The little girl wiped her tears.
“Sarah.”
Across the room, Mack stiffened.
His eyes met Wade’s.
“Sarah Collins?”
Emily nodded quickly.
“My daddy’s name was Dean.”
The room went still.
No one needed another explanation.
Dean Collins had ridden beside them for years.
He had been more than a club brother.
He had been family.
He died in a highway crash only weeks before his daughter was born.
After the funeral…
Sarah had disappeared.
No phone calls.
No address.
No trace.
The club had searched until every lead vanished.
Now…
Dean’s little girl stood in front of them.
Alive.
Terrified.
And holding onto the only symbol her mother believed might save her.
Wade slowly stood.
His eyes moved toward the man waiting nervously near the door.
This time…
There was no kindness left in his expression.
“You told us she was your niece.”
The man swallowed.
“I…”
“I’m her uncle.”
Emily immediately shook her head.
“No!”
She cried so hard the words barely came out.
“He took me away.”
“He said Mommy owed him money.”
Wade’s jaw tightened.
“Where is Sarah?”
The man looked toward the exit.
His feet shifted.
He was measuring the distance.
Too late.
Mack quietly stepped between him and the front door.
Another biker locked it.
The sound echoed through the diner.
No one was leaving.
An older Road Wolf narrowed his eyes.
“I know you.”
He pointed toward the man.
“Trent.”
“You married Sarah’s sister.”
“And you’ve owed half this county money for years.”
Trent’s confidence disappeared.
Wade took one slow step closer.
“Answer me.”
“Where is she?”
“She’s alive.”
The reply came too quickly.
Too rehearsed.
Wade grabbed the front of his jacket.
Coffee mugs rattled on nearby tables.
“I didn’t ask if she was alive.”
“I asked where she is.”
Emily burst into fresh tears.
“He locked her inside the trailer!”
The room exploded into motion.
Mack and two bikers pulled Trent away
